FURNITURE & EQUIPMENT
Please do take care of the furniture and household equipment during your stay. We ask that there isn’t any jumping on the sofa or beds.
The trunk in the TV room is an antique from the early 1900s which belonged to the famous writer Carl Zuckmayer. Each of the chalets in the Vogelweid community were given a gift from the main Zuchmayer house. We were fortunate enough to receive his trunk. We would like our guests to appreciate the item and would ask you not play with the trunk.

GARBAGE & RECYCLING DISPOSAL

All rubbish must be disposed of in the official orange bags/liners called ‘Kehrichtsacks’. More bin liners can be bought in the local supermarkets. They come in different sizes – 35, 70 or 110 litres. be purchased in single form at any local supermarket.

Full garbage bags can be left by the side of the road on Tuesday and Friday morning. On all other days, take your ‘Kehrichtsacks’ to the Kehrichthaus (little wooden huts) either further up Obere Wildistraße or opposite the PAM supermarket on Lomattenstraße.

Recycling in Saas-Fee. We love recycling! Have a look at this recycling flyer for what can be recycled in Saas-Fee.

Being a car free village at the end of the valley means that disposing of recycling can be a challenge. We ask our guests to help with this challenge and adhere to the strict laws and regulations Saas-Fee has implemented for rubbish disposal.

Anything in the recycling flyer should be taken to the recycling centre located in the recycling tunnel between the car park and post office.

ATTENTION PLEASE

There are a few locked areas across the home, please respect these as they are for private use.

FIRE PLACE

It is strictly forbidden to burn anything other than the wood we have provided for you. No magazines, nothing plastic etc.

Below are some safety guidelines to lighting the fire:

  • Make sure that the vent located on the right side of the fireplace is open before starting a fire
  • Only use dry wood which is provided or readily available for purchase at local stores
  • Do not burn anything other than wood or paper for kindling
  • Refer to the “Barbas” manual for more details
  • Please note that the fireplace and the kitchen stove extractor fan cannot be operated at the same time. Due to airflow complications, the fireplace will smoke up when the extractor fan is on.
  • We ask that when/of you clean out the fireplace you are cautious of where you place the ashes. They may still be hot the next day. Prevent burning of the floor/furniture.

SAUNA & STEAM ROOM

There’s nothing quite like a sauna to encourage your body to release endorphins. As the heat of the sauna causes body temperature to rise, blood vessels dilate allowing for increased blood circulation which, in turn, speeds the body’s natural healing process.

Following the below instructions will ensure you and future guests can enjoy the benefits of a sauna or steam room.

SAUNA

  • For sauna only press ‘on’ once.
  • Leave it for 20/25 minutes to heat up before use
  • The temperature can be regulated by using the ‘temp’ button in the middle of the panel inside the sauna
  • We would suggest starting with a medium temperature and working up from there
  • The hourglass sand timer lasts for 15 minutes
  • To turn the sauna off after use press ‘off’

STEAM

  • To use the steam function press ‘on’ twice
  • The humidity of the room is regulated using the top ‘rh’ button
  • The hourglass sand timer lasts for 15 minutes
  • To turn the steam function off after use press ‘off’
  • Please only add a few drops of water at a time to the hot volcanic coals as too much water could short circuit the whole system causing it to fail.
  • Remember to turn off the sauna after use!

WATER

Switzerland/Saas-Fee has excellent and delicious drinking water from the tap!

WATER USAGE

Please be considerate of the water usage. There is 1 boiler in the chalet. Filling up the bathtub 3 times in a row may result in an empty hot water tank.

WASHING MACHINE & TUMBLE DRYER

Saas-Fee is designated as one of the “Energy Cities” in Switzerland. Consequently, during peak electricity usage periods, the washing machine and tumble dryer will automatically shut down.
The machines are off during 11:00-13:00 and 18:00-20:00 every day of the week. Should the machines shut down mid-cycle, they will automatically resume where they left off once power returns.

Please leave the washing machine door open for a couple hours to allow the inside to properly dry and always clean both machines after use.

TV ROOM

The TV room in the basement is filled with a variety of books, games and DVDs which we hope you will enjoy. A portable DVD player can be found in the cupboard under the stairs and can be plugged into the TV via an HDMI cable. Please feel free to sign into your chosen streaming service to enjoy your favourite TV programmes.

There is a fire blanket located in the drawer on the left side of the cooking hob.
